USAF AIR RESCUE at NKP , using the HH-43B , was at first organized as follows :
| Two
HH-43B from 33 ARS , Naha AB, Okinawa were sent as a TDY unit.
Arrival at NKP
on 20 June 1964. The two were 62-4565 and 62-5978, which were flown from Naha AB to Udorn AB, Thailand , in two C-130 , arriving on 17 June 1964. At Udorn AB both were reassembled and with a short delay both were flown to NKP. A third HH-43B , 62-4564 , also from 33 ARS , was delivered to NKP on a later date, most probably August 1964 |
THE BEGINNING
- 1964
The
following series of pictures, together with first hand information, were taken
by Mr. Jim Burns,
at the time SSgt Burns, crewchief ,
who was sent TDY to NKP from July until
October 1964.
Mr. Burns completed his 20 year Air Force career in 1979 as Senior Master
Sergeant with over 17 years of flying as
crew member of helicopters.
I am extremely thankful
to Mr. Burns for these most extraordinary pictures. They are from a period of
time that many
did not know about Huskies flying under War-conditions. The
pictures are
therefor very historic.

size copies of the pictures can be found on the following pages NKP
